At 85 mm x 54 mm, the eight-digit SL-800 calculator was impressively thin, just 0.8 mm thick, and lightweight, weighing 12 g.

The calculator represented the pinnacle of digital technologies that enabled a new era of thin, light and compact products.

It also laid the foundation for Casio´s development of cutting-edge high-density mounting technologies.

In 2013, the SL-800 earned the designation Essential Historical Materials of Science and Technology (or Future Technological Heritage) from the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo because it was a calculator with an extraordinarily thin and compact form.
